Blog - but, why?

Did it ever cross your mind to ask, Why do people have blogs? What do people blog about? Why do they do it and should I be blogging?

Since I first began hearing rumblings of blogs, about five or six years ago, I asked myself those same questions. I would read articles of bloggers being the new journalists in our 24/7 media-driven world, and how blogging can make you an overnight celebrity (Perez Hilton), or even celebrities posting blogs on their websites. The idea is that anybody can do it. Anybody can now share their feelings, write stories, keep family and friends up-to-date, share photos and videos or just write about whatever they want - their very own digital diary.

But why people do it? What do people feel the need to write anything and everything for anyone to see? Some do it in the hopes they will become the next Perez Hilton - wanting the fame and fortune. Some people do it as a communication tool for family and friends - keeping them updated on events in their life. Others do it just for the pride factor - they don't care if people read what they have to write.

So why am I doing it and what is this blog "Sensicals" all about?

My idea behind Sensicals is for me to put out my reflection on things I think are important. It's a blog about things that make sense to me. It's not going to be a blog with the most up-to-date celebrity news or any breaking news stories. I will write about things on my mind. Deep down do I hope that somehow this will become huge and I will land a spot in a magazine or newspaper? - you're darn right. It would mean that somebody noticed and liked what I was doing. But mainly I'm part of the pride factor. Do I care if people read what I have to write? - not really. But I do want the people who take the time to read this blog to comment and respond with their own thoughts and feelings about what I bring forth. And if I'm good enough at this, maybe one day somebody will be blogging about my blog.
